Mmmm, Candy

No, I’m not sure why candy pink either.

I was a little bored this evening, got playing with photoshop and… one thing led to another and I had a new header image. So of course I then had to tweak the CSS…

I do like the lighter colours at the top – that last burgundy always felt a little oppressive to me. Then again, it is very pink. I don’t as a rule do pink.

Ah, I’ve got a few days of work (yippee!!!) so I expect I’ll be playing some more. I might try greens next. Greens are meadowy after all.

(You might have to refresh the page to see the changes, or clear your browser cache πŸ™‚ )

*EDIT*

Just moments after posting this I decided that yes, it was just too pink for me, so I’ve gone green for now. My moment of folly is preserved here.

*EDIT 2*

I got bored with the green quickly too – it didn’t survive past the first “hospital green” comment. See the green here.

  1. But it’s still k2!

I had to refresh to get the changes, by the way. You might want to make a note of that in the post or something.

  2. Yes Rich, it is still K2 and I expect it will stay K2 for some time to come. I just don’t have the time, skill, or resources to go custom-made. K2 does what I need it to and does it quite well. Why switch?

Thank you Spooky – I’m not sure what prompted the flowers but I was just playing and decided I liked it.

Ok, as we can’t be having hospital green…

    *fires up Photoshop again*

  3. I like the new header. The row of Penguins was getting a bit dated. πŸ˜€

Oh, by the way. I changed my URL again. πŸ™ system13.wordpress.com. The fact that the URL wasn’t matching my blog title was really, really bugging me.

  4. Thank you πŸ˜€

And I’ve decided the blue is staying for now. I’m finding it all light and airy and fresh. It seems good to me.

  5. Blog tweaking is a dangerous road down which I try to resist the urge to travel often. Otherwise I could lose an entire weekend perfecting the look–the header, the colors, a couple fancy new plugins, etc. Yes. Dangerous indeed.

  6. I let myself have the occasional tweak-fest every month or so. I wait till all the little annoyances I have with the current set-up build to an unbearable level, then SPLURGE. It’s great fun πŸ˜€

I’ve got a few days holiday (thank god!). Perfect time for tweaking! House to myself during the day. No one to make me feel guilty for still being in my PJ’s at 3pm and playing loud (bad) music… Bliss πŸ˜€

  7. Thank you Jack πŸ™‚
It was tempting to go totally fruit-loops, switch the colours to go to dark background/light text, maybe even go for a new theme (shock!) then I figured it was too much work and I’m really rather happy with K2 so why bother?

  8. This is perfectÒ€”like you, I believe in evolving things bit by bit (plus I have a lot of pages to redesign if I ever changed the blog one!).

  9. Ah, the beauty (and curse) of well designed CSS. It’s possible to *completely* change how your site looks by just editing one little file.

And can we stop talking about redesigning now? I am starting to get itchy fingers again…

  10. The penguin with the pink background is more pretty than with the green background. If you want to give it a sleek, rich metallic look, try blending options on it. And then ‘bevel/emboss” to add remarkable effects to it. The more you tweak and practice in adobe photoshop, the more you get addicted to it. that’s my experience of four years talking. =D

  11. Thank you for your input Emily. After an entire month of pink (October) I think I’ll give it a miss for now, but I certainly agree that playing with Photoshop is very addictive!
