Blog Minions are special, special people.

In order to quiet the people who think the term “minion” is highly derogatory and something they do not wish to be associated with, I would like to bring to your attention the original meaning of the word:

Coming, as it does from the French “mignon”, meaning darling, classically Minions were the favourites of a sovereign, prince, or other powerful person.

So, as Blog Minions you are people who are specially favoured. I used it as a term of endearment and affection.

There is a rolling cast of friends, family, and general acquaintances, who get mentioned a fair bit on the blog.

Blog Minions are that little bit more special because they bring something back to Bright Meadow.

What does being a Blog Minion entail?
Minions in the past have brought new sites to our attention, they have brought funnies, they have identified mysterious beasts, and they have simply made me smile when I was having a bad day.

I haven’t (yet) asked anything of my Minions, other than that they be themselves, but in the future, who knows? Maybe guest-writing, or collaboration? Maybe aiding me in my plans for world domination? If you aren’t a Minion, you’re not going to find out
What do you have to do to become a Blog Minion?
Participate. It’s as easy as that. Bring something to the table, even if it is just your wonderful personality. If you think you’ve done something deserving of being a Minion, contact me. Feeding me cookies and tea never hurts either.

What do you get if you are a Blog Minion?
Other than my eternal love and affection, not much at the moment.
If we’re ever in the same city, I promise I’ll stand you, my Minions, a drink. Oh, and I’ll send you birthday and Christmas cards if you ask nicely and remind me.

I have designed a button that you can take back to your own sites to proudly proclaim your Minion-hood, but design isn’t my strong point, so if there’s a Minion, or Minion-to-be, who wants to make another one for me, I wouldn’t say “no”. *
