It is that time of the year – spring. And, more than sunshine and flowers and flip-flops, spring means LOTS of people staring graduation in the face. And shiny soon-to-be publishing/english graduates + assistant positions = me drowning in CVs.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it. I really do like uncovering the gems and helping Bright Young Things into their chosen career (oh, the poor hopelessly optimistic young darlings!) But given the sheer volume, I do find myself saying No an awful lot.

I’ve even had THIS reaction once or twice.
But mostly, you can picture me spending my days like this:
LOVE that you ended with Sherlock. Kudos & hat tip for the Emperor’s New Groove link, too (love that film). 😀
Wish I could do my job whilst lying on the sofa like Sherlock…
Anything you can do lying down is a win…and that came off sounding seedier than it was intended! Seriously though, saying ‘no’ is a much needed part of my own vocabularly that needs constant attention. Way to set the boundaries when needed!
We like seedier and dirty minded comments here at Bright Meadow. In fact, we encourage them! 😉
I am actually really bad at saying No to people – so it’s a good job I get to practice it a lot doing what I do.
And welcome to BM and the comments 🙂
