(I’m not over my gif obsession yet. Sorry.)
Right now I am not just wondering why I bothered to get out of bed this morning, but why my ancestors ever even bothered to emerge from the primordial sludge. I am failing at humanity
So the day has gone like this so far –
I woke up. Eventually. I blame the Lizzie Bennet Diaries for giving me some epically weird dreams (mainlining 30 episodes in one sitting probably wasn’t the wisest choice). Then the milk was off so my morning cuppa was blech. Turns out, one downside of living alone is that there’s no one else’s milk in the fridge to ‘borrow’ in an emergency.
So I am relying on the back-up wake-up cure – a HOT shower – and the water pressure was pants because I live in an old building and it doesn’t do well when lots of people all want showers at the same time. Like in the morning before work.
So there I am, bleary eyed, cranky, caffeine deprived, late for work, and I leave the house and it starts to rain. My umbrella is no where to be found.
This doesn’t bode well for the day.
I get into the office, slightly soggier than I might like (though the rain probably did a better job of wetting my hair than my shower :S) , not to mention late, and barely have I turned on my computer than reception calls through to say my meeting is here and has been waiting for 5 minutes.
I double check my Outlook calendar and sure enough there’s a meeting I *swear* was not in my iPhone when I checked before I left the house. Stupid synching and multiple diaries.
And because of that fuck-up, as soon as I was done with that meeting, the next one was due. I don’t do back-to-back meetings if I can help it for a very good reason. OK, that reason is that I don’t like doing it, but that seems like a good reason to me! By now it’s 11:30 and I’ve only just dared to look at my inbox or deal with messages.
I still haven’t had a cup of tea.
Before heading to the kitchen to remedy this, I look at my diary just to make sure, and there’s that blasted networking event tonight that I had managed to forget all about when I was planning my outfit and hairstyle this morning.
I’ll be honest with you, internet friends, I am wholeheartedly embracing the Casual Friday aesthetic today, and the afore mentioned rain has obliterated any hope I ever had of achieving a respectable hairstyle.
Through-a-hedge-backwards is pretty close to Bo-Ho-Chic, right?
Which brings us to now and lunchtime.
