Grrr @ Tiscali

Once again, the Internet is down at Meadow Towers and I’ve been told to expect it to be down for the next 24 hours.

I’d make complaints against Tiscali, however it’s only actually been twice in two years, it just seems like more because the last time was so recent.

This means that I can only access the internet at work and, as I’m not working this afternoon (Monday) or at all tomorrow (Tuesday):

  1. I won’t be able to check email till Wednesday
  2. I won’t be able to respond to comments till Wednesday
  3. I won’t be able to rescue any comments from the moderation queue till Wednesday – any comments with links in them are automatically moderated, so if you want to avoid getting stuck, don’t put links into your comments. Also, moderation is set to kick in if I’ve never had a comment from you before. I know this sucks for new people, and I am very, very sorry but if you saw the amount of spam Akismet catches for me on an hourly basis you would understand.
  4. I will be climbing the walls because I’m going to be missing my internet fix!

Just to keep you informed 🙂

  1. That is sad, ungood, terrible, and awful! Internet should be considered a vital service, like heat in the winder, air conditioning in the summer (yes, I’m a geek so that counts), and delicious Code Red Mountain Dew in the mornings. 🙂 mmmm

When my internet used to go out at my old apartment (every weekend for about 3 months) I would climb the walls. Then go out into the world and try to amuse myself. Though at the time I was working as a freelance web designer on a couple of BIG sites so these outages invoked nothing but rage within me, as this was the era before my laptop.

I don’t know how I lived without a laptop for so long.

  2. Is there not wifi you can sneak onto with the lovely mac book?

Oh wait, you can’t read this till it is too late….

    Happy wednesday Cas!

  3. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. I’ll try to be, ahem, extra active online to make up for your absence. 😉

  4. Heh. I remember Tiscali. Granted ‘t was in the dark days of narrowband and dial-up, but they certainly built up a reputation back then as well. I believe they don’t even operate under that name here anymore. Hope you get it sorted soon.

  5. Maybe it will be good for you to be away from the internet a little bit. I’ll have the same problem soon, as I’m moving to a new house and I don’t know when we’re getting high speed internet.

  6. But then you will have something to look forward to, no?? And you’ll be happy to see the emails and comments (and SPAMs, LOL). Well, by the time you read this, it’s OVER! 🙂

  7. I just put a silly comment about going off looking for cas with a search party (since she is long overdue for return!) but it got held for moderation !!!

So the gag will be lost, as she will have to come back to put it up….

    sigh…

  8. OK – there’ll be an update later (I’m at work now and no time for proper comments), but Internet finally got restored to Meadow Towers this morning (Thursday).

  9. Get a new ISP ASAP. Tiscali techinical team or customer services (they should look up the dictionary what this means) have no idea what they are talking about and they always put you on hold for no good reasons at all except that it costs you 6o pence a minute. You would get more joy and sense if you bang your head against a brick wall than talking to tiscali Customer services. However their billing dept is exceptionally good at billing you, even for services that they have not provided.

They never get back to you even when they promised they would.

Tiscali = Total idiotic scumbag callous a*** hole lot

If you want reliable sevice, courteous and well trained customer services and no grief DO NOT TOUCH tiscali or ANY COMPANY THAT ASSOCIATED with it.
